We all know the primary purpose of birth control pills (to prevent pregnancy) but did you also know there are other uses of the pill besides that?
Below are 10 things you didn’t know about birth control pills

· It regulates your period.

Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS) is a condition which causes irregular periods due to hormone imbalance. Birth control pills can help regulate this menstrual cycle by
lowering certain hormone levels.

· Eases endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition in which tissues that normally lines the inside of the uterus (endometrium) grows outside the uterus. Most females with this condition usually experience pelvic pain and cramps during their cycle. Birth control pills are often prescribed to treat endometriosis. It thins out the uterine lining and prevents periods temporarily because of the pain that comes with it. It also helps to improve the cramps and pelvic pain.

· Helps with menstrual cramps.

The pills could be the solution to menstrual cramps when over the counter medication don’t seem to work.

· Helps the skin.

Females produce male sex hormones but in smaller amounts than men usually do. Some women produce more than the normal amount and this results in acne and excessive hair growth. The pill slows the making of the male hormones and as a result acne and unwanted body and facial hair are reduced.
